In the scientific and technological front of Jingchu region, there are such a group of people who either integrate their personal ideals into the needs of scientific development and make important contributions in frontier fields and basic research;  or immerse themselves in breaking through key core technologies to solve the bottleneck constraints of economic and social development;  or compete with diseases to protect people's lives and health;  or tell stories about science to improve the public's scientific quality.They are conscientious, always responding to and practicing the call of the new era, and carrying forward the great spirit of scientists.

At Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, there is such a scientist: he is not only the chief scientist of the National-Level Innovation Platform Cultivation Program, but also the chief scientist of the Clinical Research Project of the National Clinical Research Center for Orthopedics and Sports Rehabilitation.

他就是“2024年荆楚最美科技工作者”叶哲伟,中国智能医学的领航者。在国内,叶哲伟率先提出了智能医学的概念,并亲自带领团队,成功实施了世界上首例混合现实技术引导的髋部骨折微创手术,不仅彰显了他在智能医学领域的卓越成就,更为全球医疗技术的创新发展树立了新的里程碑。微软全球公共事业部总经理Mark Day及微软中国市场战略总监Jared Anderson在北京301医院与叶哲伟教授远程连线交流后,称赞团队的工作:“You are leading the world !(你们正在引导这个世界!)”,记者对这位中国智能医学领域的杰出代表进行了专访。

He is Ye Zhewei, the "2024 Jingchu Most Beautiful Scientist" and a pioneer of intelligent medicine in China. Domestically, Ye Zhewei was the first to propose the concept of intelligent medicine and personally led his team to successfully perform the world's first minimally invasive hip fracture surgery guided by mixed reality technology. This achievement not only highlights his outstanding contributions in the field of intelligent medicine but also sets a new milestone for global medical technology innovation. After Mark Day, Global Public Sector General Manager of Microsoft, and Jared Anderson, China Market Strategy Director of Microsoft, conducted a remote exchange with Professor Ye at Beijing 301 Hospital, they praised the team: "You are leading the world!" A journalist conducted an exclusive interview with this outstanding representative in China's intelligent medicine field.

医者生涯:开创智能医学新天地
Pioneering a New Frontier in Intelligent Medicine
自2003年起,叶哲伟开始研究医学影像的三维重建和数字化建模,至今已在智能医学领域深耕20余年。他的团队在医学人工智能、扩展现实、区块链等前沿领域展开了卓有成效的研究。2017年,他完成了全球首例混合现实技术引导下的髋部骨折手术,标志着智能医学在临床应用上的重大突破。
Since 2003, Ye Zhewei has been researching 3D reconstruction and digital modeling of medical imaging, and has now dedicated over two decades to the field of intelligent medicine. His team has conducted highly effective research in cutting-edge areas including medical artificial intelligence, extended reality, and blockchain. In 2017, he completed the world's first hip fracture surgery guided by mixed reality technology, marking a significant breakthrough in the clinical application of intelligent medicine.
2018年,叶哲伟团队再次创造了历史,成功实施了全球首例混合现实技术三地远程会诊手术。这场跨越3700公里的远程会诊手术,不仅展示了智能医学在远程医疗方面的巨大潜力,更为未来医疗模式的变革提供了实践参考。同年,他还主编出版了全球首本混合现实领域的医学专著《医学混合现实》,为智能医学的发展提供了重要的理论支持。
In 2018, Ye Zhewei's team made history again by successfully performing the world's first three-location remote consultation surgery using mixed reality technology. This remote surgical consultation, spanning 3,700 kilometers, not only demonstrated the immense potential of intelligent medicine in telemedicine but also provided a practical reference for the transformation of future healthcare models. That same year, he also served as the chief editor to publish the world's first medical monograph in the field of mixed reality, Medical Mixed Reality, providing crucial theoretical support for the development of intelligent medicine.

在智能医学的实践应用中,叶哲伟团队同样取得了显著成效。他们利用5G混合现实医疗云平台技术,成功为一名76岁的农妇患者实施了远程会诊手术,术后患者恢复良好。这一案例不仅展示了智能医学在远程医疗方面的实际应用效果,也为未来智能医学的发展提供了宝贵的经验。
In the practical application of intelligent medicine, Ye Zhewei's team has also achieved remarkable results. Leveraging 5G mixed reality medical cloud platform technology, they successfully performed a remote consultation surgery for a 76-year-old rural female patient, and the patient recovered well post-operation. This case not only demonstrates the practical application effects of intelligent medicine in telemedicine but also provides valuable experience for the future development of intelligent medicine.

除了在临床实践中的卓越表现,叶哲伟还致力于推动智能医学的理论研究和教育体系建设。他带领团队编写了《骨折三维立体分型观测》一书,通过三维立体模型帮助医生更精准地认知骨折形态,实现手术规划与引导的精准性和安全性。同时,他还主编了我国第一部《智能医学》国家教材,为智能医学教育体系的建立与发展奠定了坚实基础。
In addition to his outstanding clinical practice, Ye Zhewei is also committed to advancing theoretical research and educational system development in intelligent medicine. He led his team to compile the book Three-Dimensional Observation and Classification of Fractures, which utilizes 3D stereoscopic models to help doctors more accurately understand fracture morphology, thereby enhancing the precision and safety of surgical planning and guidance. Meanwhile, he served as the chief editor of China's first national textbook Intelligent Medicine, laying a solid foundation for the establishment and development of intelligent medical education systems.
 
这部教材旨在开阔年轻医生的视野,让他们了解智能医学的最新研究成果和方向,同时培养他们的跨学科创新思维方式以及跨平台、跨学科解决问题的能力。经过不懈努力,该教材成功获批立项并进入国家卫健委“十三五”住院医师规培教材序列,目前已经在全国多所高校开设的相关专业中使用。
This textbook aims to broaden the horizons of young doctors, enabling them to grasp the latest research achievements and directions in intelligent medicine. It also cultivates their interdisciplinary innovative thinking and cross-platform, interdisciplinary problem-solving abilities. Through relentless efforts, the textbook was successfully approved and included in the "13th Five-Year Plan" Resident Standardized Training Textbook Series by the National Health Commission. Currently, it is being used in relevant programs at multiple universities nationwide.
使命担当:培养人才为未来发展打基础

As early as 20 years ago, he began to practice the concept of intelligent medicine and embarked on the preliminary preparations for applying for the national textbook Intelligent Medicine.
